Sending Text Messages

It is possible to send and receive messages on the watch, but not through traditional SMS (text messaging) like on a regular cell phone. SMS messaging is intentionally disabled to help protect your child’s safety.
SMS messages cannot be blocked, which means anyone with the watch’s phone number—including strangers or spam senders—could contact the watch. Even more concerning, interacting with spam SMS messages can potentially put the device at risk.

Secure Messaging with the Angel Watch App

The Angel Watch is designed to communicate securely through the Angel Watch app’s Chat feature. This allows:

  • Voice messages
  • Picture messages

These messages travel securely between the watch and the Angel Watch app.
You can send typed text messages from your phone (using your full keyboard), but text cannot be typed from the watch due to the small screen. Instead, the watch can respond with one-touch voice messages.

Receiving SMS for Verification Purposes

There are limited situations where receiving SMS messages is necessary—most commonly for verification codes, such as when activating WhatsApp or similar messaging apps.
To receive these messages:

  • Enable SMS Messages within the Angel Watch app
  • Any incoming SMS (such as verification codes) will appear there

This is where you would receive the verification code needed to activate WhatsApp on the watch.

WhatsApp & LINE Messaging

Apps like WhatsApp and LINE operate independently from the Angel Watch app and provide:

  • Text, voice, and picture messaging
  • Voice and video calls
  • Direct, person-to-person communication

These apps do not grant access to sensitive Angel Watch features such as:

  • Location tracking
  • Sound Guardian (remote audio)
  • Phonebook or watch settings

This separation helps protect your child’s private information while still allowing communication.
Unlike Angel Watch app Chat (which is shared within the Family Group), WhatsApp and LINE allow private, individual conversations.
WhatsApp can be downloaded directly from the watch’s App Store.
